From the moment I sat down with Jenna, it was apparent she had a passion for beauty and a clear vision for her future in the beauty industry. Jenna was an aspiring esthetician student with a single-minded focus on her beauty goals and a commitment to making a positive impact.

When I shared with the future professionals that we only have three more months until we decide on who will be representing Evergreen Beauty College Bellevue, WA campus in Long Beach, CA, Jenna voluntarily visited my office and said with confidence and clarity, “I want to go. What do I need to do?”
She shared a touching story about a client who had come into our student-operated spa, visibly upset and unsure about her day. Though nervous at first, Jenna’s eye for beauty and deep understanding of esthetics guided their session. By the end of the facial, this guest was smiling, asking questions, and even purchased over $100 in retail!

In Jenna’s words, “That’s when I knew I was here to help people, deliver results, and make a difference—not just sell products.”

Jenna isn’t just a student—she’s a military wife and mom who juggled her family’s challenges with her commitment to education. With her husband deployed and a 50-mile commute to school each day, she exemplifies resilience and dedication. Her story is a testament to what’s possible with a quality education and the drive to succeed.

At Evergreen Beauty College, we empower students like Jenna through an accredited esthetics program, complete with financial aid programs and the flexibility to meet diverse needs. Whether you’re dreaming of a career in the service industry, looking to explore education benefits, or ready to gain experience in esthetics, our beauty career pathways are designed to foster creativity and support a busy work-life balance.

Jenna’s journey doesn’t end here—she’s off to Virginia, ready to inspire others with the knowledge from her exceptional education and her passion for corrective skincare. Her story proves that a dream backed by determination and proper training can lead to incredible opportunities.

To all the prospective students and military wives out there: take the leap and chase your dreams!
Jenna’s drive stems from her experience studying within our comprehensive esthetics program, having a fun beauty school atmosphere, and gaining real-world experience with client care inside our on-campus salon.

FAQ: Starting your esthetics career journey

How to begin your career as an esthetician?

Complete a training course accredited by the Washington State Board of Barbering and Cosmetology, or if you are studying in a different state, ensure you review the state’s requirements. Once you’ve earned your certification, apply for the esthetician licensing exam.

What are some esthetician duties?

Estheticians are licensed professionals specializing in skincare. Some of their job duties include:

Skin analysis: Examining the skin and determining the skin type and how to treat various skin issues.

Facial treatments: Cleaning and exfoliating the skin to replenish moisture and improve the skin’s appearance.

Microdermabrasion: Performing an exfoliating treatment that reduces the appearance of fine lines.

Is becoming an esthetician hard?

There are many employment opportunities for estheticians. A future as a skincare provider is achievable for all. Enrolling in an accredited program with a supportive faculty will help heighten the experience for current students.

Becoming an esthetician may be a bit challenging, but with a structured course outline, experienced staff, and supportive classmates, the end result can be most rewarding.

Interesting story, sometimes happens to me as well when I can help someone in my salon just because i mean it and not because i want to sell, so in this way you build a relation with your customer they trust you they will come back with other request too plus they buy from you too!!
